Sherman Inn's New Tourism Honor Due to Guest Reviews The historic Sherman Inn added a new accolade to its growing list of awards for its outstanding service, luxury accommodations and hospitality. The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce presented its 2023 “Best to the Guest Award,” its top tourism award, to the Sherman Inn and owners Jim and Donna Reagen at its recent Tourism Awards dinner. Coming on the heels of the recent announcement that Trip Advisor awarded the Sherman Inn its “Travelers’ Choice Award” for the third year in a row, the county’s tourism award was presented based on the consistent top reviews on major travel engines including Google, Yelp, Trip Advisor, and Facebook. St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce officials said the Sherman Inn (Ogdensburg) was “awarded the 2023 ‘Best to the Guest’ Tourism Excellence Award, presented annually to ‘the individual, business or organization that has provided an excellent guest experience. Customer service, unique offerings, and attention to detail make this awardee stand out in the industry.’” In addition to rave reviews read to the audience at the tourism dinner, Chamber officials noted that “The Sherman Inn has won Tripadvisor’s Traveler’s Choice Award for three years in a row, ranking among the world’s top 10 percent of lodging places with consistent great reviews.” Donna and Jim Reagen, owners of the Sherman Inn, accepted the award and shared a comical retelling of their purchase of the Inn, which reopened under their ownership on Friday, March 13, 2020, “the same day the Canadian border was closed, the World Health Organization declared the pandemic, travel bans were put in place, and the world went into hiding.” Jim added that “Business has only improved since then! Guest Policies At Sherman Inn Check-In / Check-Out Policies This property has the following check-in and check-out times and policies. Check-In: 3:00 PM to 9:30 PM Check-Out: 11:00 AM ​ Property & Cancellation Policies Full Charge - Full Stay - If canceled within 1 day of arrival. ​ Breakfast Breakfast will be served daily between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM. ​ Terms & Conditions Room Terms No pets No smoking / No vaping No essential oils $200 cleaning fee for pets, smoking, vaping, or essential oils in rooms ​ General Terms We are a smoke-free, vape-free, and open flame-free environment. Smoking / vaping is permitted in the yard or parking lot. Strong essential oils are not to be used (including the use of diffusers) for those other guests sensitive to smells. Guests are responsible for missing items from the room and will be charged for full replacement value. Guests are responsible for damage done in the room and will be charged full restoration cost plus any lost revenue from being unable to rent the room. Strong or foul smells are considered damage. Any guest under the age of 18 cannot occupy a room without a parent or guardian. Cancellations within 14 days prior to the arrival date are charged 100% of the total price to the payment method on file and the room night(s) are immediately released for rebooking. No shows are charged the total price to the payment method on file. and the room night(s) are held open for you should you show. Cancellations and modifications made by you are not considered confirmed until you receive a confirmation from us either via telephone, email, or text. Reservation Modification Terms The following reservation modification policy is strictly observed: Adding room nights are allowed without a fee. Removing room nights is considered a cancellation for the removed room nights and follows the Cancellation Policy for the total price of the removed room nights. With Whom PII may be Shared We do not sell or rent PII to anyone. Our reservation system, Cloudbeds, has access to our data and backups. Upon valid request by law enforcement or governmental agencies, we will share as minimal PII required to fulfill their request. How PII is Secured Our website uses SSL technology (HTTPS) to encrypt transferred data. Access to credit card information is given only to those employees requiring it to collect payment. All other PII is stored in a secure fashion and accessible to only those employees requiring the information to do their job. Cloudbeds servers are secured and the personal data is protected within their technology environment. How Long is PII Stored Credit card information is automatically removed a couple of days after your checkout date. All other PII is stored indefinitely. This allows us to reduce the time for future reservations. Video collected on the property is removed based on the system's data storage capacity. How you can request changes or removal of PII You may call us at 315-713-4672 to request changes or removal of PII. It may not be possible to change or remove some or all PII as we must be able to fulfill legal requirements for tax purposes. Requests for changes or removal of PII would be done in the current system and not on any backup devices. Backup devices are set to retain data for a reasonable period of time before being deleted. Backup devices are only used to restore data in the case of a critical data loss at which point your PII may once again appear in our system. We will make a reasonable effort to change or modify your PII from restored data.
